There was no league cricket for Littlewick Green this weekend, so we took the opportunity to go to Radcliffe and see Grandma and Grandpa. We're getting good at packing now, and Lara needs less "stuff", which meant we were able to get Olga, Lara, me, Luda and the dogs into the car with our stuff and I could still see out of the back window. The weather was lovely, and we had a trip round the famous Bury Market on Saturday morning, stocking up on loads of BBQ food, and finding a curtain salesman who spoke some Russian as well. Handy really, as we needed some blackout lining for Lara's curtains..
On Sunday we left Lara with Grandma and took the boys for a walk up Holcombe Hill to see Peel Tower, then it was back to the house in time to fire up the BBQ again before the big game. Oh well, the less said the better, but it was the right result in the end, England were rubbish, although I agree with the rest of the world that it could have been vrey different if that Frank Lampard "goal" had been given. Surely FIFA cannot resist using technology for at least goal-line incidents for long.
We took a more scenic route home though the Peak District for a change last night, it made a pleasant change, and was only 10 minutes longer than the usual M6/M40 route home, so I'll use this route again in future, plus there was no motorway toll :-)
Here are some photos...
A blog to keep family and friends up to date with what's new with Olga, Chris, Lara, Danny, Mishka and Jackson.

Bank Holiday weekend
We drove up to Radcliffe early on Saturday morning to see Grandma and Grandad, the weather was a bit grey on Saturday but absolutely lovely on Sunday. It was great to be able to let Lara run about in the back garden, playing with Mishka. She enjoys playing fetch with him, and throws the ball equally well left and right handed:
My aunt and uncle came round, and we had a lovely BBQ in the sun - the only person who had suncream on was Lara, so both Olga and I got rather toasted. Olga and I went out for drinkies in Bury in the evening, Lara behaved perfectly and slept, well, like a baby. She did enjoy getting up early though, by her standards, at 6am on Sunday morning and although she woke at 6am on Monday, she very kindly went back to sleep in her cot until 7.40.
Here's more of Lara modelling the playsuit Baba Luda made for her for exactly times like this:

Weekend with the grandparents
We went up to Radcliffe this weekend to see my mum and dad. The weather did its best to keep us indoors, doing its usual thing of windy and / or wet on Saturday and Sunday, then lovely on Monday, just as we were coming home.
Lara showed off her eating ability, she's definitely eating more than before from jars. Being (almost) in Lancashire, she had to have Lancashire Hot Pot, and that went down well, but not as quickly as her Mango Surprise dessert, which seems to be Number One Jar at the moment. She does also polish off the odd boiled carrot stick, courgette, strawberry and raspberries for good measure.
I've put some photos in the New Photos bit on the left of the blog, and here's a little video of her enjoying Hot Pot - I know she seems to pull a face after the first mouthful, but see how she comes back for more!
We had some fun and games on the way home - we stopped off at a retail park in Bury, Lara was asleep, so we went in turns to have a look round the shops, with one of us staying with the Lara in the car. I'd left the aircon on (the weather had perked up) and this drained the battery totally flat during the hour or so we were there. A quick call to Mum revealed they had two - yes, two - sets of jump leads, so after checking though the Honda's and Mum's Toyota handbooks, we took deep breaths and connected the plugs in the right order, and the car started first time. The handbooks both warned of "dangers of explosions" so Olga had taken Lara for a stroll to a safe distance from the cars!
Other than that we had an easy drive back, just under 3 and a half hours, and had the BBQ at our house that the weather hadn't let us have at Mum's.

A lovely weekend
Time for a catch up - it's been a few days. We drove up to Radcliffe on Friday after I finished work - it was hard to believe we set off at 5.30pm on a Friday; we hardly had to slow for traffic all the way up and arrived before 8.30pm. It probably took longer to pack all the bags for Olga, me, Lara and Mishka than it did to drive up there!
The weather was lovely all weekend, we went for some nice walks with Mishka, and even went to check out a swanky pet "spa" where we probably will get him groomed in a month or two - it's considerably cheaper than daaarn sowff. Mum & Dad looked after Lara on Saturday night while Olga & I went out for our first "night off night out" in Bury; we went for a very nice meal in Bury's only Chinese restaurant (it turns out my three phrases of Chinese are Mandarin not Cantonese. I never knew that) then went for a few beers in the Two Tubs pub (for those who know Bury!). It was lovely to relax, and reassuring to know Lara was fine when I checked in by phone at 10.30!
Sunday was a nice lazy day, with another stroll with Mishka, and Cath & Lizzie, I washed the car (the first time I'd done that since the days when Dad paid me to do it) and we watched the footy on TV. It was a good idea to have Monday off work so we didn't need to drive home on Sunday night. It was an equally nice drive home on Monday in perfect weather, and we stopped off to pick up a rug for the nursery that we bought on eBay. Even when we got stuck in traffic, it was only for 5 minutes, and that was because people (ok, us included) were gawking at the air ambulance on the other carriageway of the M5 which had landed to collect the driver of a lorry which was being pulled out of a ditch at the side of the motorway.
The only blot on the landscape was my runny nose and fuzzy head....
