Happy Birthday Olga

Happy Birthday to Olga today, and to celebrate we're off into London for a day out, and a meal in Chinatown.
There is another reason to be in London today though, Olga has an interview to be a volunteer during the Olympics next year, so we have to get to the Excel centre first, before we can relax and enjoy the day.
We'll have a party at home tonight, Lara's looking forward to that.

And then there were 4 (plus 2)!!

Well, here is the really big breaking news... we're expecting an addition to the family towards the end of March 2012!
We went for Olga's 12 week scan last week, and Junior was very active, so much so we needed a second opinion on the measurements that were being taken. "It" even did a headstand at one point. Maybe the quality of the scan image has got better over the years, or maybe it's because they are not the first scans I've seen, but it was really easy to see arms and legs, hands and feet, and the little heart was going 100 to the dozen.
Here we go....

We told Lara the next day, when she was on the mend from her stomach bug, that she was going to be a Big Sister. It took a minute or two to sink in, but once we showed her the scan photos, she was able to grasp that there was a new baby on the way. It really helped that we could quickly look back on this blog to a very similar image of Lara. One of her first reactions was to tell Olga that the only thing she could eat (well, drink) now was milk "because that's what babies eat". Since then she's asking to hug the baby, and rubs Olga's tummy.
So, there's another reason to keep up the search for a bigger house (OK, it's always been one of the reasons!)

Happy Birthday Mishka - his present is a therapist

It's Mishka's 5th birthday tomorrow! For anyone that doesn't know the story, he was born 24 hours after all but one of his brothers and sisters by caesarian section, after his mum was taken to the vets for her post-natal check up. It was only during this check-up that he and another sibling were found to be alive, and were delivered there and then! Hence his Kennel Club registered name - Sarianova Lucky Fella.

It's a coincidence, but we have arranged for a renowned dog behaviourist coming to visit the boys tomorrow. I'm fed up with Jackson's behaviour when we encounter other dogs on walks, he gets very wound up, and ends up nipping Mishka, who nips him back (as you would!). We don't know if it's aggression towards other dogs, or just frustration that he can't play with them, but we don't let him off the lead to find out. Hopefully this lady will be able to offer some advice.  She might even be able to tell us how to get them both to calm down when we have visitors! Any readers who have been to our house know to expect a very warm and friendly welcome from our boys for the first few minutes, but they really shouldn't do that, so I hope we can learn how to solve that problem too...
