More bathtime fun

Olga thought it was about time Lara tried on some traditional Russian clothing, so Lara modelled a homemade kokoshnik tonight in the bath. Very fetching, I'm sure! The real thing, in the first photo, might be something you'd find in Marge Simpson's wardrobe...

I'd say this was more of the "crazy bath gnome" look, and this one is now my wallpaper on my phone! How blue are those eyes!!?

Lara in the Pub & Park

Saturday was a lovely day, and in the afternoon we went down to the park to watch some of the POW Rangers game, and to try out Lara's new toy car, which she absolutely loves.
Earlier Lara and I had gone to the local pub to watch the Liverpool v ManUre game, and Olga had been sympathetic to my wishes when she dressed Lara...:

The Pressure's Off

At the last minute, the powers that be have decided to postpone my trip to Houston; it could have been shorter notice, but not by much. I cancelled my 11.15am flight at 10pm tonight. We lose the money on it (usual story - non-refundable tickets!) but the logistics out there are a nightmare. I might have been able to get to Houston Airport, but I might have been stuck there as there's no guarantee the limo firm picking me up would have petrol, as the refineries are flooded and the gas stations have no power. I called my hotel to cancel my room and they told me they aren't accepting guests anyway (this is contrary to what I was told by a Geotrace contact this afternoon...). So, I can relax for a few days; although this was going to be a brief trip, it was going to be a very tough one, making a presentation to a customer and I've not written the presentation yet. Always leaving work till the last second....
Anyway, after a few late nights (I'm writing this in the office!) I'm now going to go and relax. And blow my nose.

Subject to a curfew!

Assuming I still go to Houston this week, I'll be subject to a 2100-0600 curfew! The hotel I'm staying in is a Drury Inn, for those that know them, and being forced to stay in one during the evenings is not considered a bonus. There is a good bar/restaurant right next door, but even if I take my chances and get in there before 2100, there's no guarantee it'll be open because there'll be no other customers and probably no power. Then I'd run the risk of being arrested while covering the 50 yards or so between the door of the bar and the entrance to the hotel.. it's like a Hollywood film!
Oh, and if that's not enough, that "retarded cowboy fella", Dubya, as Russell Brand so elegantly called him, is visiting Texas on Tuesday, which might mess my flight about.

Here's the full story.

The three of us are still suffering at home, we hope Lara's getting better. We're planning to take her to nursery tomorrow anyway. Both her and I were just about well enough to go to the local pub yesterday afternoon to watch Liverpool finally beat ManUre at Anfield. Hoorah!!
