6 months already? Time to move the trailer

We had to move the trailer out of Mount Kidd RV Park before the end of April, so we watched the weather forecast closely last weekend, and decided to move it on Monday evening, April 27th. We wanted a calm evening with little wind. Rain isn't really a problem here unless it's late May through June, but wind could cause me some problems with pulling a 34' trailer, especially when I'm not very experienced doing it.  It was 18th October last year when we moved to Mount Kidd.

It took a little longer than expected to get it all hooked up, that's the problem when it's been 6 months since you last did something, so it was just after 9pm before we rolled out of the campsite. This meant driving back to Airdrie in the dark, which made it a little more tricky, but actually there weren't any worrying moments, and it only took 15 or 20 minutes longer to drive than it would normally have done.

We've parked it up in the same RV storage place where it was after we bought it, close to Airdrie. It's due to be "de-winterised" and have a couple of bits of maintenance work done on it between now and the middle of May, when we'll be going to Calaway Park for three nights, for the opening weekend of the amusement park there.

Hopefully we'll take it back to Mount Kidd for next winter, if they choose not to carry out renovations to the camp centre there, which would put the showers and washrooms out of use. Otherwise we'll need a Plan B for all those skiing weekends we're planning.

Skating Lesson 3 - Jolly Hockey Sticks

The Calgary Flames are currently winning their first-round series of games in the Stanley Cup playoffs against Vancouver, 3-2, and we squeezed Dan into a Flames jersey over his coat for this morning's lesson. It seems to do the trick, he spent much of the lesson on his skates, not his bum, and Olga barely had to hold him up. He could tip-toe around the ice, and even had a go at hitting some blocks with a hockey stick.
His progress was so good today that his coach has put Mama - and Assistant Coach Lara - on standby for next week, they just have to be ready to come on the ice if Dan wants them, but to start with, the Parent in the Parent and Tot skating group has been "benched"!

Here's a couple of minutes of video of Dan's progress today:

Easter Vacation Photos

Here are a selection of photos from our week's vacation at the trailer during and after the Easter weekend:

Tooth Fairy visit

After weeks of wobbling, and moving out of the way so much it was hard to believe that it hadn't come out already, one of Lara's top front teeth has finally given up, and came out in the bath a few days ago. It was retrieved and left under the pillow.
The Tooth Fairy decided that after the waiting involved, and the significance of it being a front tooth, it was worth $5.

Flies and Good Coffee News

Ok, so it's April 22nd, a nice warm Spring morning and the flies are starting to appear. But it's going to snow on Saturday, hah hah, let's see how they like that then!

And more good news, I heard on the radio today Starbucks were advertising that they serve Flat White coffee now - that was my favourite type of coffee before we left the UK, and I'd only just found it before we moved. It seems that Starbucks have added it to their US & Canada menus since January. So I think I'll go and try one out.
