Lucy and Sergei are getting married! The big day will be Friday 3rd July, at Reading Registry Office, where Olga & I were married, with the reception at the lovely country hotel where they work.
As well as learning how to babysit Lara tonight, the sisters disappeared to discuss dresses, jewellery, and other bride-y things. It's brought back the memories of our big day, it's all very exciting!
A blog to keep family and friends up to date with what's new with Olga, Chris, Lara, Danny, Mishka and Jackson.

Update time...
Cor, how long has it been since I wrote a decent update!? Sorry about that! I'll see if I can keep the story of the last two weeks or so brief..
Well, the cricket season has started, and Littlewick Green 1st XI have succeeded in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in their first two games. I've not caused the scorers to have to
dash out and buy more ink for their pens, but scores of 9 and 5 mean I've still scored more than the two opening batsmen so far! Olga brought Lara down to the Green on Saturday for a few hours, it was great to see her toddling around on the outfield after the game, and charming the regulars in the pub afterwards.
The Bank Holiday weekend saw us going to the "Family Day" at Reading Beer Festival, meeting Anton, Becca, Eve and Tess, Simon & Arong, and Lucy & Sergei. It was fun to take the bus over from Wycombe, although Lara got fractious after an hour of the journey, luckily we only had five more minutes to go. She was fine on the way back, falling asleep in her pram minutes after the bus set off.
The lawn!! Don't talk to me about that! I finally got it mowed on Sunday, but only after I got a colleague from work to come round and start the petrol lawnmower I'd borrowed off him, I just don't have the knack to start it! Anyway, here's the "before" and "after" pics to prove it:

Now it's just at a state where it looks like it could do with another trim, it's never ending, but at least Lara can walk on the grass now without disappearing into it.
Bury FC didn't make it to the League Two Playoff Final, which means at least I don't feel obliged to go to Wembley for the Final. They lost in the semi-final to Shrewsbury Town (good luck, Rob!), although over the course of the 46 games of the regular season, if only they'd scored one more goal, they would have been automatically promoted in favour of Wycombe Wanderers, of all teams.
Tomorrow Olga and I are off to London in the evening to watch a recording of the new series of QI, with Stephen Fry, Alan Davies and, well, we'll wait and see who the other guests are. The tickets are free, but it's first come, first served to get into the studios, so we need to get there well in advance and wait. Lucy will babysit, and has come over this evening to learn the ropes for giving Lara her tea, bathing her, and putting her to bed.
There's no cricket this weekend, and we'd planned to go camping, but the weather forecast looks rather damp, so it'll be very much a last-minute decision. To be honest, we've not checked on the state of the tent since we last camped in September last year in Norfolk, it might not be a pleasant experience, it's been bundled up in our shed since then.

A trip to the Zoo
Finally - an update! We've been busy with Life in general since we came home, but more of that to follow. Olga took Lara to London Zoo today, and she (Lara, not Olga) entertained the other passengers on the train home by making them do impressions of her.
Lara's walking is very confident now, which is a good thing. She's only having one nap a day, for around an hour, and is consistently sleeping for 12 hours, which means we usually have to wake her up when we get up. We've stopped using a humidifier in her room at night now, which seemed to be causing her to have occasional coughing fits. At least the heating isn't on (much) now, so the air in her room isn't as dry as it was in winter.
Regular words we're getting now are Mamma, Pappa, Baby (she's good at that one), baa-baa (for sheep, of course), and Olga's taught her a very good roar for all other animals, including dogs, who now roar instead of uff-uff.
