The Summerhouse - it's started!!

OK, before I get started on the kitchen... today is the day I finally got started on erecting the summerhouse on the decking. As is the way of these things, no sooner had I started, than we decided that clearing all the conifers and blackberry bushes from the area next to the summerhouse would be a good idea. It also gave Olga chance to get acquainted with her new toy - the cordless hedge trimmer. I was able to have fun with an axe, cutting down the three big conifers you can see in the photo.

Once they were cleared, the frame of the summerhouse went together surprisingly smoothly. The roof sections are prepared, but I'll wait until Tuesday to try and put them on - it was looking like rain later this afternoon and we're off to Ant'n'Bec's tonight for a soiree.

Kitchen updates

Just another quick one to upload some pics of the kitchen in mid-refurb

This is the old kitchen, before it was ripped out and put in the back garden.

Some of the units, made up and ready to be moved from the dining room to the kitchen; if it was me installing this kitchen, I reckon those units would never move.

A photo, for a change

Just so this blog isn't so text-dominated, here's a photo. I'd have taken one today of the boy, but he's been a bit naughty, chewing bits of the new kitchen (that'll teach me to leave it in the back garden, this never happened when it was on the drive).
Anyway, this is from when we had a few days holiday in April, it was taken in Milford on Sea, on the South Coast.

A Relaxing Bank Holiday? No Chance

So the Bank Holiday weekend is almost over, at least the weather was good for once. Littlewick Firsts thumped Little Marlow Firsts at the Green, by 8 wickets. 6 unbeaten on the run now, and we're off the bottom of the league! POW Rangers continue their low-key warm up to the new season, with our 3rd defeat in a row, but this was a close-run 4-3 loss to the Cross Keys pub. At home Olga and I have made progress in the kitchen, the old one is bare now, and pretty much ready to be removed. The new one is taking shape, well, some of the cabinets are, except they're in the dining room at the moment. It's an improvement to them being in boxes on the driveway.
Cath, Nick and Lizzie popped round on Sunday evening after a flight to the Isle of Wight; both Olga and I practised our baby-holding technique, and Lizzie wasn't sick on either of us, so we must be doing something right.
So this week is going to be "interesting". We're not sure what to do with Mishka while Kevan the Builder is working next week, at least one day we might have to take him to the office. It'll also be take-away week for tea, we'll see if we can do the Quadruple of English, Indian, Chinese and Pizza during the next four days....

Just a regular evening...

So, further to yesterday's report, of course a few things changed! The oven isn't in Chingford, it's in Bradford, and won't make it to Chingford until the end of next week. So I bought the same oven from Dixons - it was cheaper and will be delivered to Deeds Grove on Wednesday. So we went to pick up the cooker hood from Comet in Wycombe. Except it wasn't in Comet in Wycombe, it was somewhere else, and won't arrive until Tuesday. The gas hob, which also should arrive on Tuesday, was already in Wycombe, so we took that home instead.
Just waiting for the washing machine today...
